Summer Indoors,
formed by Mark Jordan (Drums) & Jon Dahms (Guitar) in 1987.
What started as a band of dreams, playing through countless Rush covers, eventually would turn into something a bit more in the years to come.

Chris Dempsey joined Summer Indoors after his previous band Shylock split up.He initially entered providing Bass and backing vocals whilst the lead vocalist at the time was long time freind,
Rob Williams.
Rob Williams was also joint owner of a recording studio in Whitstable, Kent where Summer Indoors would record their first demo 'Funny Old World'.
After a few successful local gigs, Rob Williams decided that he would have to devote most of his time to his studio, so he left Summer Indoors and Chris Dempsey took over as lead vocalist.

But being a technical/prog rock band, they decided that a devoted keyboard player was needed, so they enlisted the the help of a local theater keyboard player by the name of Shaun Milsom.
The band decided, after writing a few new songs with Shaun Milsom, to record a second demo entitled 'Theres Orangie'.
They recorded the six track demo in Rob Williams' recording studio again and when finished began circulating the tapes around the prog world.
The demo gained interest with some fanzines and found its way to S.I Music in Holland.
S.I  were interested in releasing the demo on their sub label 'Silly Insects' but only if another four songs could be added to the demo to bring the overall playing time to around an hour.
In the mean time, keyboard player Shaun Milsom left the band  and a search was started to find a suitable replacement.
Enter the second Summer Indoors keyboard player......John Sayer.  (I must be a poet and dont know it!!)
He recorded the last four* songs for the 'Theres Orangie' album and the master tape was whisked off the the Netherlands to be mastered prior to general release.
*Last four songs were :-
New Sun Shining
Turn On
Dogs in Space
Men with Splendid Hearts
The album (also entitled 'Theres Orangie) gained some favourable reviews in several fanzines around Europe and saw Summer Indoors gigging bigger venues including a support for I.Q at Whitchurch.

BUT...................................
John Sayer had to quit the band for personal reasons and Summer Indoors were left with a stack of keyboards with nobody to play them!!!

Enter the Third Summer Indoors keyboard player........Andy Forrest
(This is sounding a bit like Spinal Tap !!)
Andy Forrest joined the band in 1994 and after a few local gigs was thrust upon a screaming prog crowd at Tilburg (Holland).

Summer Indoors played the festival with For Absent Freinds, Egdon Heath and Red Jasper.
After enjoying the gig at Tilberg, Summer Indoors went back into the studio to record their second album 'Songs in the Key of H'.

This contained eight tracks, of which four were re-written for the album.

The CD was released in 1995 and Summer Indoors did a mini tour of radio stations in the Netherlands to promote the new release.
Again the album recieved some favourable (and not so favourable) reviews......but it seemed that a lot of people could not be won over to Summer Indoors and after the demise of S.I Music, the band decided to split up and go their seperate ways.

Chris and Andy joined another band - 'Moscow Riley', Jon got stuck into his work and Mark wandered through a couple of different bands before joining 'In the Cage'.
In 2002, Summer Indoors were invited (at short notice) to play the Whitchurch Festival but after a few rehearsals, it was decided that there was insufficient time to get a set together and had to pull out.

Summer Indoors may yet play again somewhere.....................watch this space!!
